Had a great day hanging out with my mom. We enjoyed a nice long run and ran some errands. We did get to go to the doggie toy store, which is usually my favorite, not today! My mom spotted a Moose sweater when we walked in and said I just HAD to try it on. I appeased her but when she started talking about actually buying it I reminded her that I'm adventure dog, and adventure dog does not wear clothing, only my adventure dog backpack...geeesh!

Today was another adventure day! We went to this new (to us) park that was northwest of Billings, and had so much fun! We love being outside!

Making our way up

Checking out how far we've come

Beautiful views!

Adventure mom :-)...she's pretty awesome

So when we were halfway up and my dad was plotting out a route to the top, he kicked a rock down and I thought it was a ball so I ran all the way back down, only to realize it was a rock...

Whew I'm tired...

Making our way back down...good thing because I'm tired!

My dad had the day off so we went running on the rims. I enjoyed a great game of trying to catch the jack rabbits...key word trying. Those guys are fast!

Where'd he go?

Whew this is hard!

Today was doggie day camp day. My mom was pretty excited when she saw me on their Facebook page today.

We were all about to get treats in this picture and I don't know about you but in my house you get treats a lot faster if you roll over so right after this picture was taken I rolled over. The ladies told my mom I took out about five dogs when I rolled over but I don't think you can count that small thing with pointy ears a real dog.

My mom had to work a charity event all day so my dad and I went hiking. Since my mom missed out on adventure day, my dad took lots of pictures and this is how he told the story to my mom...

Oh geez, just another boring car ride...wait I think I know where we are going...I do know where we are going!

Planning our route down....I don't think I can get down there....are you sure I can...I still don't think so...
Ok I think I can....wait let me think....ok here I go! I made it!

We made it all the way down this!

Now we have to go back up...ok here we go...wow almost fell....whew I'm tired....I think I'll take a break right here

Happy Heart Day! I love Valentines Day! My dad and I picked out a flower, a card, and a bottle of wine for my mom and then I also gave my dad a card. My dad left a playlist for my mom on his phone of songs that remind him of her so she could listen and have a glass of wine when she got home from work. He is good! I need to remember these things so I can impress the ladies at Doggie Daycamp!

And guess what I got...A NEW BONE! Great day!

Today we had to get creative with our workout on account of it being really cold outside. Our apartment complex is shaped as a big rectangle with indoor corridors and inside stairs. So my mom and I ran down the halls, then up and down the stairs, and continued all the way around the building a couple times. It was so much fun, because things like this are always a race and I always beat my humans because 4 legs are better than 2!

Running down the stairs...don't let this picture fool you I was always the first to the bottom and first to the top, my mom made me sit for a picture...I think she just needed a break

Now that's more like, me ahead!

My humans were boring today....
We woke up to snow on the ground and it snowed off and on all day so the humans took advantage of their day off and hibernated.

Pawprints in the snow....

My mom got this new thing called a TRX so they tried it out...
Yeah my humans do not look as good as the model...

And then my mom made a Pinterest inspired meal...whatever that means. All I know is dad loved it and I snuck a few sweet potatoes....yummy!

So. Tired. Met a new girl today at doggie daycamp, Ellie. Three girls in one week, must be my thick, luscious fur coat :-)

Just a view of Montana :-)

Today was a recovery day from yesterday...whew all those dogs wore me out. So between morning nap, early afternoon nap, afternoon nap and evening nap....

I did some research on Montana and found these fun facts:

  • Montana has the largest grizzly bear population in the lower 48 states. (Scary!)
  • 46 out of Montana's 56 counties are considered "frontier counties" with an average population of 6 or fewer people per square mile.
  • The density of the state is six people per square mile.
  • In Montana the elk, deer and antelope populations outnumber the humans.
  • Montana is nicknamed the Treasure State for the abundance of gold, silver, copper, coal, and more recently oil. There are a lot of ghost towns where there was once a working mine and when they mined everything they could people just up and left, leaving an entire town.
  • The coldest temperature on record for Montana is also the coldest temperature for the entire contiguous U.S. On January 20, 1954, −70 °F (−57 °C) was recorded at a gold mining camp near Rogers Pass. (Definitely gonna need a jacket if it gets that cold again!)

Today was AWESOME!!! I got to go to doggie daycamp and play with other dogs all day long! My mom called to check on me around lunchtime and they told her I was playing with Princess, a chocolate lab. Then when I got picked up they told her I had just been playing with Berkley, a golden retriever lab mix. That's right folks, my first day and I already got two beautiful ladies. But being the big man on campus has worn me out! I passed out right when I got in the car and haven't moved from my bed since getting home. I cannot wait to go back again next week!

Taking a break waiting for my mom to pick me up

On the way to daycamp....so excited!

My dad, being the science nerd he is (really...people used to say to him "Bill Rourke the Science Dork) has been explaining to me how Billings used to be underwater a long, long time ago.

The Rims that we run on (here is a little perspective) all used to be under the sea
From the bottom

From the top

All that is left is the Yellowstone River, which is running very low right now since its mostly frozen

The Rimrocks (also known as the "Rims") are a geologic sandstone formations that are located in Sections of Billings, Montana. 80 Million years ago the Billings metro area was the shore of a Sea that went from the present-day Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic North. Sediment and sand from the Sea were deposited around the shoreline. Over time the Sea rose and fell leaving behind a deep layer of Sand. Over Millions of years this sand was compressed into the stone the Rims are made of it is known as Eagle Sandstone. Around a million years ago a much larger river than the current day Yellowstone River, began cutting a canyon into the valley floor of Eagle Sandstone creating what today is known as the Rimrocks or Rims.
